The PRS SE McCarty 594 takes its inspiration from classic vintage electric guitars, combining a mahogany back and maple top with a shorter 24.594" scale, substantial Pattern Vintage neck and warm 58/15 LT “S” humbuckers.
Individual volume and push/pull tone controls for each pickup give you far more flexibility than a traditional twin-humbucker setup, letting you move from warm, full humbucker tones to brighter single-coil sounds from the same guitar.

Our Take
The McCarty 594 might be your PRS if you're craving warm, vintage humbucker tones and a more traditional playing feel.
The 58/15 LT “S” pickups are a real highlight. They're warm and full without becoming muddy, with enough clarity and dynamic response to work beautifully clean, pushed or driven. The individual coil splits are genuinely useful too, giving you brighter rhythm and clean sounds without a dramatic change in character. That tonal range is consistently one of the SE 594's strongest aspects.
It also feels noticeably different from a Custom 24 or CE 24. The Pattern Vintage neck is fuller in the hand, while the 24.594" scale gives the strings a slightly slinkier feel that makes bends particularly comfortable.
If you like the idea of a classic twin-humbucker guitar but want more tonal flexibility and distinctly PRS design and playability, the SE McCarty 594 is a very compelling choice.
