Across three generations, our family has shared one simple belief: music brings people together. From a child's very first lesson to a professional musician's next instrument, we've always been here to help people enjoy making music.
Today, we're still proudly family-owned, independent, and local.
Growing With the Music Industry
Mall Music began as a traditional music store, selling everything from vinyl records and cassette tapes to CDs, sheet music and musical instruments.
As technology changed the way people listened to music, we saw an opportunity.
Rather than following the decline of physical music retail, we chose to focus entirely on helping people create music.
In 2010, we transformed our business into a dedicated musical instrument retailer, expanding our range, investing in expert staff and developing one of Australia's most comprehensive independent music stores.
It wasn't a change in direction—it was a commitment to what we'd always loved most.
Built for Musicians
In 2010, we opened our purpose-built flagship store on the southern edge of the Warringah Mall precinct.
Designed by musicians, for musicians, the Store brought together leading musical instrument brands, dedicated repair workshops and experienced staff who genuinely understand the products they sell.
Over the years, we've welcomed artists including Willie Nelson, Chris Isaak, Michael Bublé, James Morrison, Julian Lennon, Icehouse, Angus & Julia Stone, Rob Hirst and Kelly Clarkson, while proudly receiving four ARIA Awards recognising excellence in Australian music retail.
Recognised by Roland
During the challenges of COVID, Mall Music was honoured to be selected as Australia's only Roland "Store in Store".
For several years, we worked closely with Roland Australia to create a dedicated destination where customers could experience their latest digital pianos, drum kits, synthesisers and music technology.
While the Store within a Store program has since concluded, we're incredibly proud that Roland entrusted our family business with showcasing one of the world's most respected music brands.
Proudly Northern Beaches
The Northern Beaches have always been home.
Many of Australia's leading music distributors and brand partners are based right here on the Northern Beaches, and we're fortunate to work closely with them to bring the latest instruments and technology to our customers.

Back to Our Roots
In 2014, we expanded with a second store at Macquarie Centre, sharing the Mall Music experience with even more musicians across Sydney.
After 10 successful years, we decided not to renew our lease.
Growth has never been our goal.
Helping people make music has.
Returning to a single flagship location has allowed us to invest even more into our customers, our workshop, our online Store and the personalised service that has always defined Mall Music.
