Our Take

Few guitars provide the visual impact of a large Gretsch hollow body, and the G2420T is much more than just an eye-catching guitar.

The fully hollow construction gives the guitar a lively, resonant feel that you notice immediately. Chords bloom with warmth and depth, while single-note lines retain a pleasing openness that many solid-body guitars can't replicate. The large body also produces the "big-body sound" that has become such a defining part of Gretsch's identity.

The Broad'Tron BT-3S pickups strike an excellent balance between vintage character and modern versatility. There's enough output to handle overdriven tones comfortably, yet they retain the clarity and articulation needed for cleaner styles. The addition of coil-splitting significantly expands the tonal palette, making the G2420T one of the more versatile guitars in the Streamliner range.

The Bigsby® B60 is a huge part of the Gretsch experience. From gentle chord shimmer to expressive lead phrasing, it adds a sense of movement and character that feels unmistakably vintage. Even subtle use can make clean chords sound richer and more alive, while lead lines take on a vocal-like quality that has inspired generations of Gretsch players.

For players wanting the iconic Gretsch hollow-body experience, the G2420T offers exceptional value while delivering the sound, feel and stage presence that have made these guitars famous for generations.
