A comprehensive technical foundation for developing flautists in their early years of study.
The Fluteworthy Basics Book is designed for flute students working through approximately Grades 1–5. It provides a structured approach to building strong technique through short, achievable exercises covering breathing, tone, dynamics, intonation, articulation, finger technique, and rhythm.
Clear technical advice and posture guidance from Christine, Lamorna, and Jocelyn support healthy playing habits from the outset. Students can focus on specific skills through targeted exercises before applying them directly in the carefully selected studies in the second half of the book. The exercises can also be used to address technical challenges encountered in other repertoire.
The study section draws from respected flute pedagogues, including Köhler, Gariboldi, Altes, Soussmann, Popp, Dressler, Berbiguier, Andersen, Quantz, and Toulou. The collection includes 16 studies listed in the AMEB Flute Syllabus (Grades 1–5), alongside traditional songs, duets, and new works by Christine and Jocelyn.
